Jo Lorenz is a writer, podcaster and activist pushing for climate action, social justice and sustainability.
She founded the modern lifestyle website, Conscious Citizen Co – which focuses on climate change, intersectionality, politics, social justice, sustainable beauty and sustainable fashion – and hosts the podcast GAF Is The New Black – which discusses the intersections of climate justice, conscious lifestyle, inter-sectional feminism, politics, social justice and sustainability (available on iTunes and Spotify).
Along with her written works for various publications – including Eco Age – Jo’s push for inter-sectional justice enables her readers to be invariably more aware of their social impact. She works with sustainability pioneers in the global fashion and lifestyle industries to promote artists, brands and designers who honour ethical and sustainable trade – and has moderated numerous events for conscious businesses and movements such as Fashion Revolution, Vestiaire Collective, Redress, The R Collective, and Soho House Hong Kong. As well as this, Jo is a ‘Climate Reality Leader’ having attended Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and US Vice President, Al Gore’s, Climate Reality Training Corps in 2019.
Together with her husband, Jo is Co-Founder of 24 Hours For Change, a grassroots social justice movement for climate action and equality, where the pair use their expertise to amplify the campaigns of NGOs and social justice causes. 24 Hour For Change has worked with Sierra Club and Lonely Whale.
Jo’s unique aesthetic enables her to work with brands that align with her message of ethical and sustainable lifestyle. She has more than 20 years of creative experience and loves to design distinctive, compelling and original content for her clients. Amongst others, she has worked with Vestiaire Collective, Tata Harper Skincare, Emma Lewisham, Olio E Osso, The Laundress New York, Moët & Chandon, and Votary London.
Prior to Conscious Citizen, Jo studied as a journalist in Sydney, Australia, and then moved into the world of media and communications. Most recently, she was the Founder/Creative Director of Hong Kong creative agency, La Maison de Lorenz, where she spent many years working with Asia’s top editorial publications – including Tatler and Elle Decor.
Jo is mum to two beautiful boys, Harry and Jude, a passionate advocate for inter-sectional justice, and a dedicated heliophile.
